What the heck?
Several announcements were made this week due to the Corona Virus.
1)The leaders from our church announced that during General Conference in April the conference center would not be opening their doors. The public and visitors would not be able to attend the live sessions. It would all be broadcasted live.
They also announced that many missionaries serving over sea's were being sent home early or being re-assigned. The MTC as of next week will no longer be open and that new missionaries will be taught remotely until they report to their missions.
The church also asked that meetings that had more than 100 in attendance be cancelled. No more stake conference's, weekly activities or sacrament meetings.
Woah!
2) President Trump closed all boarders temporarily. As of a specific date later this week no one can enter the US for the next 30 days. There are a few exceptions.
3) The NCAA, NBA and MLB games will be playing in empty stadiums. No fans or the public will be admitted.
4) The beginning of the week all colleges in Utah was closed and learning will be done remotely. They are trying to eliminate masses of 100+.
5) This next week is our Spring Break. The governor of Utah announced that all schools K-12 will also be closed for the next 2 weeks. Our school district has been sending emails out almost daily. This 1st week is still our spring break but the following week kids will be doing school remotely. We'll see how that end's up working out.
The State has now asked us to stay away from groups of 10+
And then the U.S citizens went crazy! Supermarkets can't keep their shelves stocked. This is our local Wal Mart bread shelf. It's mostly gone! Good thing I have plenty of flour to make homemade.
Canned fruit, vegetables, soups, etc mostly gone.
Cereal, crackers, packaged goods also gone.
Water bottles, toilet paper, hand sanitizer, diapers, wipes, formula all gone!
People are going to Costco to stand in line hours before they open trying to get their hands on stuff.
Supermarkets are "running out of food". They can't keep meats, milk, eggs, bread on the shelves. People are waiting in line before the delivery trucks even arrive. It can be scary to see this and sad at the same time.
I'm thankful that we have food storage and I'm not panicking on how I will be feeding my family.
I am so thankful for a living prophet today! A prophet who has encouraged a home study curriculum. Although we won't be attending church at a church building with fellow members this Sunday we are still having church at home. We have been given permission to have our worthy priesthood holders pass the sacrament to their families. We can still study the scriptures, learn of Christ and bear our testimonies to one another. And I won't lie..... I'm just a little happy I don't have to plan singing time this week.
