May and June's Pandemic Update

Covid 19 is still a thing. It's all anyone talks about. The most interesting thing is how it affects everyone so differently. Some end up dying from the complications it brings, others are hospitalized but recover. Some feel like its a bad case of the flu or allergies. It's different for everyone. It's hard to see our country still shut down over this. We keep being told Covid is so much worse than the common cold or flu, yet the health department continues to compare it to those things but say it's so much worse. I do NOT know anyone who has died, been hospitalized or even had to go the doctor's for Covid.  Everyone that I do know that has tested positive have said it wasn't that big of a deal. The "whole family" didn't get it, they may have felt sick for a day or 2 but then was bored having to be quarantined at home for the next 14 days. They say previous sicknesses have been so much worse. It's hard to take this serious when the recovery rate is still 98%. We don't shut everything down during flu season when the death rate is much higher that Covid. It just doesn't make a lot of sense.

My parents were diagnosed with COVID-19 earlier this month. My Dad had a upcoming online doctors appt to renew his heart medicine. Before being seen he had to be tested for Covid. This is so, so dumb! He wasn't going to the doctors office, he was going to be seen over the internet. It's not like Covid could enter his computer, travel through wi-fi, and infect his doctor. He also had no symptoms! But regardless he had to be tested. The weekend before he tested he and Mom had a burn pile. That Saturday Mom had the sniffles and by that night she had a had headache. Being they had worked outside during the week and then the weekend trimming trees and bushes they figured it was just allergies. All the smoke from the burn pile probably contributed to the headache. It wasn't the first time in their lives they had the sniffles, allergies and a head ache from burning. Sunday Mom's headache was so bad she stayed in bed or on the couch most of the day. Again this wasn't the first time she has had such a horrible headache. Monday she was feeling better, her headache wasn't as bad and her allergies were more manageable. Tuesday she was feeling even better. Her headache was about gone, she still had allergy symptoms and had developed a cough. Dad was still great, no symptoms. He did feel like he had to clear his throat a bit but again assumed it was just allergies as he suffers this time of year every year. And he had been taken allergy meds off and on for a few weeks already. The big day arrives, Dad gets tested. He said is horrible! They push a long, 10 inch q-tip up your nose and swipe your brain. Doesn't that sound fun! It then took 3 days to get the results. Mom was continuing to get better and better each day. She just had a cough, Dads throat continued to itch and he soon developed a cough. Boy were they shocked to get the phone call that Dad's results were positive! They had no idea! We all thought it was just allergies. They quarantined themselves for the next 14 days. Each day their cough was less and less. They have both said that they have been more sick in the past than the symptoms they had with Covid. The worst part of this all was definitely the horrible headache that lasted a few days. We are all thankful they both had such mild symptoms of the pandemic.

Covid was made a political issue since it began! The majority of people aren't taking Covid as seriously as "politics" would like. It is a election year. There are people doing everything they possibly can to make sure President Trump does NOT get re-elected. They have no bounds. Since "the people" were getting a little lax about Covid it was time to try something else. Beginning of May, Murder Hornets from Asia were reported being seen in Washington State. They are supposedly 2 inches long, highly venomous and invasive. They are killing bees meaning we will have shortage of fresh grown foods here in the U.S. Is it true? I guess time will tell. Most see this for what it probably is....A scare tactic.

On May 26, 2020 a black man, George Floyd, was killed by white police officers. There are several video's that can be found on the web. The video's show him on the ground, with a police officer kneeling on top of him. You can hear Mr. Floyd say, "I can't breathe". The ever growing crowd is heard to be yelling at the officers to let him up, he is NOT resisting, remove your knee, he can't breathe. Unfortunately, Mr. Floyd died. He was suffocated by this officer kneeling on him.  Was this wrong? ABSOLUTLEY. Did the police use excessive force? ABSOLUTLEY! Should the police officers present be fired and prosecuted for what happened? ABSOLUTLEY. Mr. Floyd was a victim that afternoon. The media, Black Lives Matter and many other groups are portraying Mr. Floyd to be a "innocent black man" who suffered racial injustice.  Mr. Floyd may have been innocent that day. The police did have a warrant for his arrest. In fact Mr. Floyd has been in and out of jail numerous times. In the coming days its been leaked that Mr. Floyd, while robbing a pregnant woman held a gun to her stomach threatening to shoot her unborn child. Mr. Floyd suffered injustice that day by police officers. But Mr. Floyd was not a innocent man. He was a criminal. Does this maybe answer partly why the police officers were using excessive force? Maybe. Chances are the officers had dealt with this man before. He had a record and the police did have a warrant for his arrest again. Does this excuse the officers behavior? No. But the media and others need to stop treating him as a innocent, non violent man. Oh my goodness, the mayhem, our country is now going through. It is complete nonsense. Protests have erupted all over the U.S. They may start out peaceful but the majority quickly escalate into a full on riot. Businesses are being looted and burned to the ground. WHITE people and the police seem to be targeted. Bricks, firecrackers, homemade bombs are being thrown towards these people. Hundreds of rioters are blocking traffic on the freeway and on city roads. Rioters are shooting towards police officers and others in the crowd.  Curfews have been placed in most cities, the National Guard has been called out to help. Most of these larger cities are asking to "defund the police". They want no police! What??

The crazy part in this is that there are several City mayors and state Governor's who seem to be in compliance with these rioting groups. They are telling the police NOT to arrest the looters, NOT to arrest those setting fire to businesses. The people are upset and they have the "right" to express themselves. For reals? When did it become o.k to hurt someone else, to attack each other.  There are many, many police officers of every color that have been shot in the head and brutally attacked all because they wore a badge. Police Officers fear for their lives. Police Officers are being suspended for protecting themselves. They are not suppose to defend themselves while in the middle of a riot. There are many police officers around the country that are quitting or moving to states that will support them. Satan has such a grasp on our nation right now. St. George had a peaceful protest. No one was hurt, nothing was looted or destroyed. Salt Lake City had a protest that turned violent. Although these democratic states have essentially locked down their state due to Covid and have mandated masks, and banned traveling apparently protests are riots are ok to participate in. Masks are not required to protest. It's hard to believe we are living this right now!

In Denver, the school board is removing police from campus. Hmmmm.... Who will they blame now for the next school shooting?  Protestors in Seattle took over a police precinct. City officials won't allow federal troops such as the National Guard to "reclaim" the precinct. California is releasing thousands of prisoners. Why? Because they are apparently over crowded and don't want to spread Covid. The prisoners being released aren't just the white collar, little non violent crimes. Numerous of these prisoners were told they would never be up for parole. They committed serious and violent crimes. Meanwhile school everywhere is suppose to start in August but kids have to wear masks to help stop the spread. If masks worked so well why isn't it working in prison?

Our world can be a crazy and scary place right now. Wrong is right and right is wrong. Black Lives Matter is quoted for saying, "Silence is Violence". Joe Biden was announced running for President against Pres. Trump. Joe Biden, who suffers from Alzheimer's, who can't say 2 complete sentences without getting confused. Who can't help but touch and smell the young ladies around him. He makes women and the girls extremely uncomfortable. More and more pictures and other information is being discovered about Jeffery Einstein's Pedophile Island. The Clinton's and other high political figures including actors/actresses and other countries rulers are being linked to a children sex slave trade.  There are people trying to make pedophilia normal and natural. We truly are in the last days. What gives our family comfort? Being home together, making memories together, studying the gospel together. Our home is our sanctuary. We are studying the Book of Mormon right now. It's amazing to see how similar our nations/ our world's behavior is to those in that particular time. We are fighting Satan just like them. What gives us comfort is knowing the ending to this war. Jesus will win! We just have to keep trying, doing our best at keeping his commandments and keeping him in our hearts. It's going to be hard. It's going to get worse but we can help fight this battle. We can fight with the righteous and win this war.

Maddie is 16

Despite Covid making life difficult sometimes Maddie was still able to get her license on her 16th birthday. Yippee!

After getting home from the DMV her friends surprised her at home. All of these girls are so amazing! So glad Maddie has such cute and good friends.

Her friends took her to breakfast, then bowling, then to lunch and then made their rounds from house to house hanging out. I invited them to dinner that night. We had Maddie's favorite, waffles and ice cream. Followed by another ice cream cake.

Happy sweet 16, beautiful.

Heaton East Fork Trip

Grandma Heaton decided to have our family reunion this year while moving cows to the East Fork. It was suppose to be Mon-Wed. Due to work obligations Kory and I and most of the kids were only able to participate the 1st day. Emily and Brayden stayed the next few days there.

We started bright and early Monday morning. It was a whopping 63 degrees and of course I forgot to grab our jackets. Oops! Good thing we had plenty of cousins to borrow some from.

We started in the back walking behind the cows. Cousins were great at giving the kiddo's turns on some of the horses.

Kylie riding with Kassidy.

Once we got to the top we came back down the mountain and had to head home. What an experience. Cows are stupid. They loved going off the trail, They'd get separated from their babies and then turn and run down the hill. It was a crazy adventure. Parts of the trail were steep and my lungs struggled. But we made it. It was fun seeing family and the memories my kiddo's made doing things we don't normally get to do.

Kylie's Baptism Shoot

Kylie has been so excited this week! It's almost time for her baptism. Kylie picked her dress out months ago and it's been hanging in her closet. She was so excited to put it on for pictures. We went up to the red rocks but it was still pretty sunny outside.

Love her little hand and pink painted fingernails.

Our 2nd stop was a nice little spot along a river.

Love, love her.

Yay! It's my turn to get baptized.
